    tyre size 225 / 40R18
ok have you driven with any other tyres on the car ?
the potenas are like a midrange tyre for performance but high end for price.
if you want to pay that much the michelins are worlds better and for cheaper the toyos are better as are the dunlop maxx....
ps dont assume that wat works on the st's etc is good for us because the fn2 is a lightweight compared to its peers

thanks guys, this really helps a lot
@B18B4 - no, the potenza's came standard on my car and only now need replacing, i havent had any other tyre on it. the only reason i would stay with the Potenza's is that i am happy with the performance/ handling/ etc and dont want to change tyre brands, pay X amount and then regret it.

@LHDVtec - thanks bro, for sourcing the prices. from which fitment centre are these form.

i have no experience and little knowledge of this topic, so forgive my ignorance, however i do hope to learn from this Forum
how do Toyo's / Yokohama / Potenzas compare.

your point is valid , no one wants to pay a fortune and then regret it

the toyos are simply better in all aspects than the potenza imho. handling, grip, comfort.
the yoki is a bit loose as others have also said, its not as sticky as the others and will require a more seasoned driver lol

the michelin is by far the best tyre but also the most expensive unless you have a contact....

    my 2c:

I've been happy with my stock Potenza's levels of grip on the road. The rears on the S lasted for 32000km which included 4 track days. I disagree that they fall into the mid-range, but I do agree that they are certainly overpriced for the CT-R size!! That is nearly R1000 more than the 245/40/17 I was quoted for RE070 rears on my S!! Road tyres will always be a compromise between grip, comfort and wear life.

Now that I have the Potenza semi's for track duty, I am probably going to move to Yokohamas or Toyos on the S2K for daily use unless there is a really good deal on Potenzas. I've had Yokohamas on all my cars before (and still do on my EK) with no issues. They grip well at 'normal' speeds and well beyond, don't cost alot and last a decent amount of time (S-Drives - not sure if there are new equivalents out). Toyos are also good and I'm keen to try them out on one of my own cars.

I had a set of Dunlop SP7000D's on my BMW a LONG time ago- Never in my life will I get another Dunlop tyre!! Plain scary in the wet - to the point I was driving a chisel-shape Corolla when it was coming down a bit too heavy, nothing special in the dry, somehow lasted only 18000km on the rears without any launches/racing. Don't care what they say about Star Specs, I've lost all confidence in them.

If you have the cash, P-Zeros are where it's at in terms of performance (and at R2600/tyre for road use, I think it's a good price too!), but you don't get long life out of it since it's a relatively soft compound (varies by car though). I had Eagle F1's before which I also rate highly.

pzeros are awesome ...... oh and the problem we have here is that these tyres provide totally different characteristics on an s2k as opposed to the fn2 , which is the car to which the question is posed...

take the hankook evo 12 as a classic example lol. just ask shizzo what he thinks about it

guys, just for info, i got two Hankook Ventus Evos (225/40/1 yesterday for R 1,050 each at TWT Cresta. they running a special on them now...plus i took insurance on them at R 140 a piece. i always have issues with tyres so thought it rather safe.
Btw ask to speak to Luanda at TWT, she really knows her stuff!

surprisingly, my RE050's both were rip offs and both had plugs in them, as well as numerous small holes. gonna take them back to the dealer...he's already trying to avoid me.hmm

not really hey. i saw someone else pay 1200 for the same thing. besides, it was the only cheaper option there, and since my tires never last me their entire lifetime, i thought rather get insurance and see how far that takes me.
gonna attack the dealer tomorrow. hope all goes well...
